The Plan

On Mission To Zambia

First Stop: Ndola, Zambia

In Ndola, we will join Lazarus and Rachel Phiri, who are full-time missionaries in Zambia and Covenant Partners of New Life Church. Lazarus and Rachel serve with Pioneers, a mission organization based in Orlando, Fla. Pioneers was founded nearly 30 years ago and today has over 1,800 members serving on 188 teams in 84 countries among 130 unreached people groups. Lazarus provides oversight and leadership with Pioneers in North Africa and the Middle East. Rachel’s ministry revolves around her family, but she also teaches at the Wives Program at the Theological College of Central Africa. While we will be visiting and staying with Lazarus and Rachel, we will be addressing needs within their community which they have recommended. We are honored to be able to come alongside them and assist with the needs that are near and dear to their hearts.

We thank God for the privilege of being partners together in the Gospel with New Life Church of Hershey. We are excited that through this partnership, a team from N.L.C.H. is coming to Zambia to partner with us in a different way. We look forward to the encouragement the team will be able to bring to us and other fellow workers that they will be interacting with.

We have seen God working here in Zambia in our preparations for the team to come. And it has been humbling to see how the Zambian Church Leaders are looking forward with expectation to working with the team while they are here.

As we pray and prepare for the team to come this summer, our hope is that God will first of all work in the team members, this will be their learning. Secondly, that God will work through the team members to impact the church in Zambia. We see this as serving and sharing. And above all that God would be glorified in every part of this trip.- Rachel, Lazarus, Jeremiah and Immanuel

Next Stop: Kitwe, Zambia

In Kitwe, we will be working at the Musonda Orphans and Vulnerable Children Community School. Musonda is a shanty town, home to Kitwe’s poorest of the poor. The school is a former bar, the size of two of New Life’s upstairs classrooms. The school serves 400 students in grades 1-7.

Our team will help to repair and paint desks used in the classroom. Members of our team who are teachers will train Musonda’s teachers in the use of visual aids. We will build relationships with the children, playing games and teaching music.

Third Stop: Ministering with the Church

After several days in Kitwe, our team will work with four BIC churches in the region, offering encouragement as well as worship and teacher training. We will worship with these churches on Sunday, July 11.

Fourth Stop: Choma, Zambia

In Choma, we will visit the national offices of the BIC church in Zambia. We may also have the opportunity to minister to a school there.

Fifth Stop: Macha, Zambia

Macha is home to the Macha Hospital, a mission hospital founded by BIC, and Macha Institute for Malaria Research, a work founded by BIC mission doctor Phil Thuma. The Institute has done groundbreaking research in the fight against malaria, seeing reductions as high as 95% in childhood deaths from malaria. We also hope to minister in the hospital chapel. Isn’t God great. I am so proud of you. It was such a blessing for Leigh Anne and me to toil in the soil at Hershey so many years ago (hey Jean, was it that long ago?). We are praying for you and your faith adventure!
